Mrs. Renata L. Sedlar

Saginaw, Michigan

July 24, 1915 - December 15, 2008

 Passed away unexpectedly Monday, December 15, 2008, at Luther Manor. Age 93 years. Renata was born on July 24, 1915, in Saginaw to the late John and Wilhelmina (Holl) Essner. She was married to Anthony E. Sedlar on May 10, 1947, in Saginaw, where he predeceased her on December 18, 1977. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving on the Ladies Guild, Retreads and the Sewing Group. She was an Arthur Hill High School alumnus; she then graduated from the Saginaw Business Institute. She was employed at the Saginaw Parts Plant as the secretary to the Plant Manager. Her memberships included the U.C.T. and the Germania Town and Country Club. Her hobbies were bowling, bingo, traveling and playing cards, she enjoyed her cottage in Au Gres, and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Pistons. Surviving are her two children and their spouses, Connie (Jeffrey) Murdoch, Chesaning; Mark (Janet) Sedlar, Saginaw; three grandchildren who where a special joy to her, Ryan (Jamie) Sedlar, Saginaw; Stephanie Sedlar, Novi; Michael Murdoch, Sarasota, FL; also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers, Fred Essner, Lillian Dietzel, John Essner, Nora Hansen and Mildred Pack.
 Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave. The Rev. Paul R. Hinz will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., then at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be given to Peace Lutheran Church-Retreads or McBrite Manor. Memories and sympathies may be shared with the family online at WakemanFuneralHome.com
