Mr. Reinhold H. (Reiny) Ruppel
Saginaw, Michigan
February 6, 1917 - February 6, 2009
Mr. Ruppel was called home to his Lord at home on Friday, February 6, 2009. Age 92 years. He was born on February 6, 1917 in Saginaw, to the late Karl and Anna Ruppel. He married Mildred J. Smith on May 14, 1938 in Saginaw, where she predeceased him on June 7, 2003. On August 9, 1945, Reinhold Ruppel was inducted into the U.S. Army during W.W.II. He served in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theaters. Then on July 6, 1946, Reinhold was honorably discharged from the 52nd SIG SV CO as a TEC 5. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at GM-Grey Iron Foundry for 10 years, at Watson / McDonald’s Ice Cream for over 20 years, then as a Journeyman Electrician in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Refrigeration Engineers Society, and V.F.W. Post #1566. Reinhold loved to hunt, fish, play cards and especially spending time with his family.
Surviving are his two sons and their spouses, Robert and Mary Ruppel, Saginaw; Roger and Karol Ruppel, Saginaw; four grandchildren, Gary and Kimberly Ruppel-Slick, Saginaw; Robert A. and Kimberly Ruppel, Grand Blanc; Neal and Heidi McComas, Commerce Twp.; Doctors Cory and Solveig Ruppel, Tampa, FL; nine great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Dr. Heather and Marco Deutsch, Hawthorne Woods, IL; Adam and DeAnna Herbolsheimer, Rochester Hills, MI; two step-great-grandchildren; one sister and one sister-in-law, Emma and Chester Fowler, Colo; Mildred Ruppel, Saginaw; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Deborah Ruppel, also three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway Rd. The Rev. Paul Beck and Vicar Bo Graham will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, where military honor guard services will be conducted under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #1566. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., then at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
