Mr. Loren A. (Shorty) Draves

Saginaw, Michigan

March 1, 1932 - May 13, 2009

   Passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Covenant-Cooper. Age 77 years. Loren was born on March 1, 1932, in Bridgeport Twp. to the late Arthur and Esther (Ruff) Draves. He married Dorothy D. Mitchell on May 29, 1954 in Saginaw, where she survives him. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, Shorty was employed as a Millwright for 30 years at Grey Iron and Nodular Foundries. He organized the retirees parties for 24 years. Shorty loved hunting, gardening and woodworking. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Surviving besides his wife, Dorothy are their three children and their spouses, Lori and Michael Kubik, Saginaw; Mark and Beth Draves, Freeland; Michele and Donald Landeryou, Freeland; six grandchildren, Beth and Jeffrey Kubik; Ashley and Kevin Draves; Adam and Jacob Landeryou; one great-granddaughter, Heather Kubik; one sister and her husband, Vera and John Schneller, Saginaw; also many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was predeceased by his sister and her husband, Elaine and John Fauver.
  Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 18, 2009, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway Rd. The Rev. Mark P. Buckert will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, where military honor guard services will be conducted under the auspices of American Legion Post #439. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., then on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
