Mrs. Emma Gronda

Saginaw, Michigan

October 19, 1912 - May 25, 2009

   Passed away Monday, May 25, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center - Cooper. Age 96 years. Emma Greif was born on October 19, 1912 in Au Gres, Mich. to the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Dorn) Greif, coming to Saginaw in 1918. She married Fred Lee Gronda on March 2, 1935 in Saginaw. He predeceased her on May 24, 1977. Emma was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where she had attended school from First through Eighth Grade, and was a member of its Seniors group, also the Germans from Russia and the UAW Local #699. Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Jean (Donald) Johnson, Saginaw; two grandchildren, John R. Johnson, Heather and Ryan Zissler; four great-grandchildren, Jessica Zissler, Marissa Zissler, Vanessa Zissler, and Brandon Zissler. Emma was also predeceased by two sisters and six brothers, Molly Greif, Elizabeth Meisner, Jacob, Henry, Adam, Jacob, Edward, and John Greif.
  Memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 Court St. The Rev. James F. Krueger will officiate. Private burial will take place later in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
